Burger with a twist - The DON burger

1 Leonard St
Victoria Park

I've attempted to come to this place twice! Previously, I went on a Saturday with D but it was unsuccessful because it was another pop up restaurant.

Then I realised it is a Wednesday to Friday restaurant! So I schedule to come on a Thursday.

When I arrived, the restaurant was full and it was a cold and wet day.

I stood inside and the waiter John was very nice. He let me stand around till there was a spot for me.

I looked at their signature dish DON Ramen Burger. It looks appealing. Hence I ordered it. I've tried the Ramen burger before in another restaurant, I didn't quite like it but this time I am giving the Ramen burger another try.

The Ramen Burger, I didn't quite like the Ramen patty. I should had ordered the brioche bun instead. But I did give the Ramen burger 2 goes before I said I wouldn't suggest one to order it. Unless you really like the noodley bun texture.

The menu

Taro Latte!! I ordered the Taro Latte was very good indeed something different. I've asked what they put it it. They mentioned it was the bubble tea flavouring of Taro. I love it!

We ordered The Bao Trio which is $15.

The Char Siew Bao Slow cook pork belly, salad and coriander

Crispy Cheeky Bao - crispy chicken, slaw, yuzu mayo

Matcha green tea crepes cake, it's wroth ordering if they still have this cake. It taste so good. $9

I will return to this place again to try other items on the menu.

Breakfast Tasty - The Hardware Store Cafe & Eatery

117a Brighton Road
Scarborough WA

I've seen this place on Zomato for a while, when I am on Instagram I keep seeing people posting pictures of the food at this restaurant. After my gym workout in the morning, I drove straight to this place. As I am not familiar with Scarborough, I used google maps to get me around the area. I found it easily with google maps.

When I enter the cafe, it have a refreshing interior. The fork, spoon and knife is in a toolbox. Which is very innovative and also suits the theme of the restaurant, The Hardware Store. I love how the interior have a natural light that shines through and the hanging plants it brings life to the interior.

I love the natural light and plants inside the cafe.

Seating around the cafe setup

I've order the Watermelon, Strawberry and cloudy apple juice cold press juice it tasted very good! $7

Smoked Chorizo Breaky Board - eggs poached in tomato, red pepper, butter beans, jalepenos, chorizo broth w / crispy tortilla bread, guacamole, tomato salsa - $22. I've actually enjoy this dish a lot! I love the crispy tortilla bread that you can dip into the poached egg, is the seller of this dish!

I will return to this place again and try another dish.

A little hideaway for breakfast - Flora and Fauna

Flora and Fauna
70 Aberdeen St,
Northbridge, WA

When I was working, I keep seeing people on Instagram who are having the wonderful breakfast photos. I've finished my contract and now I m free in between contracts. I m looking at filling my time between travels and dining out for breakfast.

I've picked this place because it popped up in my search in Zomato the new app that replaced Urbanspoon.

I drove to Northbridge parked my car on Newcastle Street.
I found the place tucked away on Errichetti place. It's a cute little shop tucked way between Aberdeen St and Newcastle st. This is the courtyard of Flora and Fauna.

I love the little succulent plant on the table.

I had the Herbed Smashed Avo on Turkish bread. I've also added a pot of scramble eggs on the side. The Herbed smashed avo on Turkish bread was good, the herbed smashed avo wasn't too much to my liking., it had a bit too much lemon in it. I love the taste of the Turkish bread, I love it.

I also had a glass of Latte. The coffee hit the spot straight away.

The overall decoration of the place is cute. I sat outside in the sun, which was nice and warm. The seating arrangements are mostly outdoors.

I will absolutely return to try the Canadian-Style French toast, I saw another customer ordered it and it looks very good.

Hylin - Warm Breakfast on a Wet Day

178 Railway Parade West Leederville

Over the weekend we went to Hylin in West Leederville. It was a rainy weekend, we wanted to sit inside, although they have outdoor seating on the grass but it’s all wet.

We went in there wasn’t much of a queue. The waitress at the counter was very helpful informed us there might be a 30mins wait for our food. We are good with it hence, proceed with the order. I ordered a smoothie, which is a combination of Strawberry, banana and Acai Smoothie.

Mr. S ordered the Spanish Beans – homemade Spanish beans in a rich tomato sauce with spicy chorizo, two poached eggs &served with crusty bread GF $16.50
Mr.S and I are massive chorizo fans. He decided on this dish because he loves the chorizo and beans. When the dish arrived, he said the beans and the chorizo is a bit soupy.

I ordered Smashed avocado and eggs – two poached eggs, smashed avocado, rocket on sourdough GF $15.50

I’ve recently have an avocado craving hence I love this particular dish because it have loads of avocado on the sourdough.

We normally eat half of our breakfast and exchange so we can taste each other’s breakfast. My personal choice is still the Smashed avocado and eggs. The Spanish beans serving is a bit to big to my liking.

I would like to return to Hylin in West Leederville and try other dishes on their menu!

An Italian Christmas - Jamie's Italian

I’ve booked Jamie’s Italian since S kept complaining about us not going there. I’ve been to Jamie’s Italian three times previously.
The first three times when I was there I didn’t think the food was fabulous. S kept insisting that he wants to try. Hence I’ve booked in advance for Christmas Eve @ 1:45pm.
It was on the 24 December, we arrived at the restaurant for a good early 15 mins and our table was ready within 5 mins of waiting. Our waitress brought us to our seat and gave us the menu. We were seated at the far right corner of the restaurant. She then went away to bring us water but it did take a while to get water to our table.
We ordered the Cured meats for 1 person $14 as we weren’t very hungry. The Cured meat consist of  Italian prosciutto, Wagyu bresaola, finocchio; artisanal mortadella. It tasted very good indeed; I love the cured meats that tasted just right with the right saltiness! I strongly recommend if you feel like cold meats this is the one that you should order.

For our sides, we ordered the Famous Polenta Chips $8.50 crispy fried with rosemary salt & Parmesan. It tasted so good! I loved it with the right saltiness and I felt a fraction healthy ignore the deep fired bit. It just hit my spot!

S ordered the Black angel spaghetti $25 Squid-ink pasta, scallops, chilli, anchovies, wine & capers. The scallops were spare, the squid-ink pasta is a bit too al dente to our liking. The overall taste was pretty blend. S didn't event like the dish.
Baked King Salmon $26.50 With whipped lemony artisanal ricotta, balsamic-roasted veg & a zesty, crunchy salad. I can actually make it better then what it tastes in the restaurant. I was disappointed with it. As for the dimension of taste that goes into your mouth it was just one dimension it was salty.

Rasberry and chocolate-ripple panlova $10 Mascarpone cream, peppered seasonal berries, smashed honeycomb with a drizzle of dark chocolate. The panlova was hard and sticky on the bottom.

The enviroment of the restaurant is rustic. We like the set up of the restaurant. The food came fast which is very efficient in the kitchen. Is it worth the money? I don't think so. The food was average tasting. I am not likely to return to this restaurant. Unless a freind suggested to go but not my own will.

A Green Day - The Raw Kitchen

Prior of going to The Raw Kitchen. I was very sceptical about going to a vegan or raw food place.Personally I am not into those foods, when I was young; I never liked vegetables much. I’ve always love my meats.

I met up with my previous co-workers, which I haven’t seen for a while. One of them is a vegan and the other one said had you been to The Raw Kitchen? So we venture out to Fremantle, parking is easy on a Sunday. There is the multi storey car park just around the corner to it.

Inside The Raw Kitchen the deco is very earthy.

The waitress greeted me and showed me to the table. I was given the menu. I was thirsty so I ordered a Summer Green - Organic spinach, cucumber, mango, mint, lemon, dates, $9.50. It tasted very green, the price is a bit steep.

As for mains, we ordered the Warm winter pizza - sweet potato, apple sauerkraut, preserved lemon, cinnamon oil and spring onion $24
I like the base of the pizza, it tasted very good.

The Yellow coconut curry - spicy Margaret river tempeh, broccoli, sweet potato, sugar snap peas, crispy shallots, lime, fresh chili; coriander with a side of quinoa $25
I like the coconut curry its to my liking.

Live zucchini pasta with tomato pasta sauce, avocado, mushroom, Kalamata, olives, basil, Parmesan and; crack black pepper $23
It tasted very good indeed quite surprising.

After having a meal at The Raw Kitchen, my thoughts on their food was very tasty surprisingly and I am very open to going back there again. Even I was feeling full, it wasn't the sensation that you feel like you are sickly full on your normal meals.
