Trendy Lip Balm and color - EOS and Eve Lom

I've been searching for a different lip balm. I used to Mentholatum but I am getting over it, since I can't get it here.

I went to Mecca Cosmetica in Claremont, at that moment, I was just wanting red lip stick. Instead of coming home with just one red lip stick, I came back with Eve Lom Kiss Mix as well. The makeup artist mentioned that my lip was a bit dry and she recommended Eve Lom Kiss Mix to me. I love the Eve Lom Kiss Mix coz it have a bit of a shimmer and also the cooling sensation at the end when you applied on your lips. At $30 for 7ml of lip balm is on the pricy side.

I've also been reading up on EOS lip balm "Evolution of Smooth (EOS) is a global company that makes a number of skin care products such as shaving cream, hand lotions, and EOS lip balm. The company focuses on selling all-natural skin products that are created from fruit and botanical extracts. EOS lip balm is designed to soothe chapped lips and protect the skin with vitamin E, which helps the skin lock in moisture. All of the company’s products are environmentally friendly, as the company strives to diminish the carbon footprint of its manufacturing operations. EOS lip balm is claimed to be manufactured chemical-free" (Quoted from The Dermatology Reivew) Thats why I picked it. The first time I used the lip balm, it have a minty smell and it tasted sweet. The after effect is a cooling sensation that I really like and feels hydrating. I got this from beautybay.com the website. They are selling it at $10.50 each at 7ml as well. If you live in the US it's only USD$3.29 each! Unforutnately, I live in the expensive part of the world hence things cost double to purchase.

It's for you to decide which do you prefer. I like both of them, I leave one at work and one in my handbag to go.

Travel Back In Time - Brasserie Zedel

When you walked into Brasserie Zedel, it feels that you are back in the 1930s. The extravagant French decoration in the restaurant is magnificent. We were recommended by a friend to visit this restaurant by the price and deco.

We sat down looking at the menu which they had provided, the 2 courses - £ 8.95 and 3 courses - £11.75. We couldn’t believe how reasonable priced it was.

Terrine au Jambon £5.50 Terrine, it came with onion jam. It didn’t come with bread hence we have to order bread for the table.

Six Escargots au Beurre Persillé £8.75 we ordered the snails with herbed butter, it came without the shell of the snail and it tasted wonderful with the right combination of herbs and salt. We liked it.

Filet de Loup de Mer, Pommes Ecrasées £14.75 - Seared sea bass with crushed potatoes andpousse spinach

Tarte Tatin (pour deux) per person £6.00

We also ordered the Formule menu which cost £19.75

Céleri Rémoulade - A tasty raw vegetable salad

Boeuf Bourguignonou Ile Flottante- Beef stew that was average, it was just average

Maquereau Grillé - Grilled mackerel

Ile Flottante - Floating Island

Verre de Vin Maison - House wine

Eau, Café

If you are in London and looking for a reasonable priced place with extravagant interior deco. Brasserie Zedel will be the place to be.

The Baking Easter Long Weekend - Red Velvet Cupcake

Over the Easter Long weekend, I was bored at home and wanting to do something different.

I am not really into baking much, but seeing a few of my freinds who bake such wonderful cakes. I was tempted to try!

Hence, my baking journey started here. The Red Velvet Cupcake that I would like to try to mimic! Apparently, it made famous at the "New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel, these cakes are five star. Simple to make yet spectacular as a centrepiece, these red velvet cakes with cream cheese icing are luxurious." (Quoted from taste.com.au)

I've looked on the "http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/28927/red+velvet+cupcakes" website and followed the recipie.

Apparently, Its suppose to look like this

But mine turned out to be looking a bit sad, like this image below.

The recipie details as below
  • 350g (2 1/3 cups) plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 315g (1 1/2 cups) caster sugar
  • 250ml (1 cup) buttermilk
  • 185ml (3/4 cup) vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 teaspoons red food colouring
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • Dollar Sweets Fairy Fives sprinkles, to decorate frosting
  • 250g pkt cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 100g butter, at room temperature
  • 195g (1 1/4 cups) pure icing sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Steps as below how to make one

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line eighteen 80ml (1/3-cup) capacity muffin pans with paper cases. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder into a large bowl. Stir in the sugar
  2. Whisk the buttermilk, oil, eggs, food colouring and vinegar in a jug until combined. Make a well in the centre of the flour mixture. Add the buttermilk mixture and stir until just combined.
  3. Divide the mixture among the prepared pans. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centres comes out clean. Transfer the cupcakes to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. To make the cream cheese frosting, use an electric beater to beat the cream cheese, butter, icing sugar and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
  5. Pipe the icing over the cupcakes and top with the sprinkles.
After thoughts -
I should had left the red velvet cupcake in the oven for a bit longer. As the recipe said 20-25mins in the oven each oven is different hence mine should be left in the oven for an extra 5 mins.
My cream cheese icing not sweet enough. I put in 100g instead of 195g of sugar.

First Meal in Adelaide - Nu Thai

Nu Thai
117 Gouger St
AdelaideSA 5000

I've just arrived in Adelaide at 10:00pm, picked up the rental car and started driving. It's my first time in Adelaide, have no sense of direction only looking at the GPS to guide my way to Gouger Street which the the restaurant street in the to see what I can find to fill my tummy.

I've parked my car by the road side and sat there for a moment to gauge where I am. We walked around the area to check out different restaurants which are open at this time of the night.

We walked pass a nice Thai restaurant, called Nu Thai! It looks very nice and the girl was taking the sign in as they are going to close their shop. I asked if we could have a quick meal in the restaurant, they were nice enough for us to sit down.

The exterior of the restaurant looks modern, with the modern sign.
Flat Prawn Spring Rolls (4pcs) $12.0 the ingredient consist minced prawns with pastry served plum sauce

Ginger Chicken $18.9 sliced chicken stir fried with chilli, ginger, onion, capsicum & zucchini

My overall experience of the food that we ordered was good and I will return to this restaurant if I live in Adelaide or the next time in town.

It feels like home - Asian Golden Wok

Its a slow Friday evening, we've decide to check this new restaurant Asian Golden Wok in Innaloo.

My co-worker had mentioned to me that it taste similar like almost like home . In the Urbanspoon address, it says 388, Scarborough Beach Road, Innaloo. I wasn't very familiar with the area but it's right next to the Innaloo shopping centre. The restaurant is next door to Crust pizza that you can see from Scarborough Beach Road.

When we found the restaurant its a cozy little joint.

They serve the famous Sarawak delicacy. Each dish on the menu doesn't cost more then $10 which is very reasonable.

We ordered the Tomato Kueh Tiao and the Ko Lo Mee. The ingredient that they use are very fresh, both of us loves it very much.

I will return to this restaurant again, on a night which I am lazy to cook. Their service is very fast and efficient.

Recommending the CC cream by Ultraceuticals

On Tuesday evening after work, I was wondering aimlessly in David Jones with my gf Kaki, we were just killing time. But at the back of my mind,  I wanted to get a new “BB cream” as mine is close to finishing.

We wondered to the Ultraceuticals counter, there were hardly any shoppers on Tuesday evening in store. Kaki told me the Vitamin A cream/serum is very good, while we were trying it, the sales lady approached us and told us about the CC cream. At first, I wasn’t too keen on the product. She gave us both each a sample to try, Kaki have the medium and I have the light sample.

Ultraceuticals CC cream comes in three shades, light, medium and dark. The CC cream is the new upgraded BB cream from the market. CC cream has more of the coverage.

This is how I looked like before makeup. I have acne scaring on my face.

This is one side with CC cream. The CC cream has thick consistency.
The overall experience for using the CC cream by Ultraceuticals is very good. It’s good for people who have acne scaring and also pigmentation for fuller coverage.

This is me, with CC cream as the foundation base.
